This position is part of the “XHS Platform” project funded by the “IGNICIA Proof of Concept” programme of the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN).

The goal of the “IGNICIA Proof of Concept” programme is to bring the technology developed by knowledge institutions to the market. The “XHS Platform” project aims to prepare the multimission platform for nanosatellites developed by the University of Vigo from 2008 to be commercialized.

This position is opened to initiate young professionals in the “XHS Platform” project related technology and train them in its use.

Work description

The activities executed by the candidate are distributed in two phases. A first phase when the candidate will be trained in the nanosatellites technology, its sector and the technology developed by the University of Vigo’s Aerospace Group. And a second phase when the candidate will be integrated in the electronics team to collaborate in the design and development of software and firmware for embedded systems and signal processing algorithms, applied to the Software Defined Radio (SDR) developed by the group. Some of the activities the candidate may be involved are:

  • Development of firmware for embedded systems based on FPGAs and Linux or RTOS operative systems.
  • Development of communication applications such as high data rate transmitters, aircrafts tracking (ADS-B), vessels tracking (AIS), M2M/IoT protocols, etc.
  • Development of signal processing algorithms for a Software Defined Radio (SDR).


  • Degree:Master or bachelor degree in Telecommunications Eng. or similar (graduated or last year).
  • English: B2 level recommended (spoken and written).
  • Others:
    • Notions in embedded systems based in FPGAs and Linux and RTOS operative systems.
    • Experience in C/C++, Python languages.
    • Notions in signal processing algorithms for radio communications.
    • Simulink, MATLAB/Octave, GNU Radio tools.
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills. Autonomous and cooperative work skills in an international and diverse team.
    • High motivation for learning new knowledge and interested in technology.
