Short CV

Julio Martín Herrero is Telecommunication Engineer (Vigo), PhD in Physics (Vigo) and PhD in Signal and Image (Bordeaux). He has made long stays at the University of the South Pacific (Fiji), Universidad Nacional Mayor San Marcos de Lima (Peru), Université Bordeaux I (France), The University of Western Australia (Australia), Curtin University of Technology (Australia) and Edith Cowan University (Australia). He has participated in two Antarctic expeditions with the Portuguese Polar Program (PROPOLAR), Chilean Antarctic Institute (INACH) and Korea Polar Research Institute (KOPRI). He is currently an independent researcher within atlanTTIC. He has published about twenty JCR articles cited a couple of hundred times, and is a reviewer for about twenty JCR journals. He is author or co-author of 4 patents. His research interests include, among others, hyperspectral image systems integration, processing and applications, computer vision, spatial analysis and algorithmic optimization. He maintains international collaborations in environmental remote sensing and precision viticulture, and frequently contracts with industry for process automation and optimization, including computer vision, robotics and control systems with high speed and complexity requirements. He is co-founder of the spin-off Sound of Numbers, a company dedicated to the development of advanced software for acoustic engineering, currently represented in 47 countries.
