Expressions of Interest for PhD position in Distributed Computing and Communications (EU project DistriMuSe)

The Information Technologies Group (GTI) is pleased to announce the opening of a call for Expressions of Interest for an enthusiastic and passionate researcher to enroll in a PhD opportunity in distributed computing and decentralized communications within the European project DistriMuSe (HORIZON-KDT-JU-2023-2-RIA), and we need someone to join us to design and develop a distributed platform for the deployment and management of AI applications using IoT Pub/Sub communications and lightweight virtualization.

We are the leading research group in 5G and 6G networks, working with cutting-edge technologies and infrastructure. We have multiple national and international competitive projects on topics related to wireless networks, embedded devices, artificial intelligence and edge computing. In addition, the group is formed by young professionals who create a good atmosphere to develop their research careers.

What we offer:

  • Minimum 30-month contract (optional renewal).
  • Salary: 18K-25K (negotiable).
  • Working within a European project framework (trips and meetings with partners).

Requirements:

  • BSc and MSc degrees (or equivalent) in ICT-related topics (Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, etc.).
  • Experience in software development (C, Python, Rust, etc.) and Linux systems.
  • Knowledge about networking protocols for IoT.
  • Good English level.
  • Permission to work in Spain.

Desired Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Good skills in writing scientific articles and project reports.
  • Knowledge about AI algorithms, cloud infrastructure and 5G/6G networks.
  • Experience in Zenoh protocol and WebAssembly (WASM) virtualization.
  • Participation in international research projects.
  • Creative and critical thinking abilities.
