Expression of Interest: edgeContinuum project

 

Our Information Technology Group (GTI) is looking for a junior researcher that is willing to work in a DevOps culture towards the creation of an innovative edge computing solution for the project edgeContinuum. You will work in a team with other researchers and Senior Engineers to design telco grade software using cloud native and microservices technologies.

This job position is a great opportunity to combine both Research and Innovation in a unique environment where learning and growth are part of the daily routine.

By joining us, you will be embarked in the creation of a spin-off of the University of Vigo, bringing to the market an innovative solution in the field of edge computing and generating an impact in the market and society.

Gross Salary range: 20.000 – 23.000 €

What would we like from you?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge in programming languages such as Java, Python, Go or Rust.
  • Passion for the technology and problem-solving thinking.
  • Communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Any prior experience or knowledge in cloud computing principles, microservice architectures or edge computing is a plus.

What will you do?

  • Collaborate in the development of microservices in different languages such as Java, Python, Go or Rust.
  • Learn and provide support in the deployment of software developments using continuous integration and developments tools (CI/C)
  • Learn and provide support in the management of Kubernetes clusters.
