Luís Anido Rifón (born in Lugo, 1973) is a Telecommunications Engineer (1997) specializing in Telematics and Communications, and Ph.D. in Telecommunications Engineering (2001) from the University of Vigo. Since 2009, he has been a Full Professor in the Department of Telematics Engineering at the University of Vigo. He served as the director of various areas affiliated with vice-rectorates between 2002 and 2015 and managed the ICT sector program of the Galician R&D plan. His current areas of work focus on the application of ICT in education and elderly care. His interests include Machine Learning, Data Mining, Smart TVs, standardization, and interoperability.

He has directed more than 20 competitive projects at the regional, national, and European levels, including FP7 and H2020. He is the author of over 40 scientific articles in top-tier indexed journals and more than 200 papers presented at international conferences. He has received awards as the principal author of works presented at the prestigious World Wide Web Conference organized by the W3C in its editions of 2001 and 2002. He has also received the Business Cooperation Award from ETSI Telecommunications, the Young Researchers Award from the Royal Galician Academy of Sciences, the Best Ph.D. Thesis Award from the Official College of Telecommunications Engineers, the Extraordinary Doctorate Award, and the End of Career Award from the Ministry of Education and the Xunta de Galicia.
