Pedro Comesaña Alfaro (Associate Professor at the University since 2012) is a Telecommunications Engineer with specializations in Telematics and Communications, a Bachelor in Mathematical Sciences with a specialization in Statistics and Operations Research, and a Ph.D. in Telecommunications Engineering. He received the Extraordinary Degree Award (2002) and the Extraordinary Doctorate Award (2006) from the University of Vigo, as well as the COIT Award for the Best Doctoral Thesis in Security and Defense (2006). His research focuses on the areas of multimedia security (including watermarking and multimedia forensics) and digital communications. He conducted research stays at Technische Universiteit Eindhoven, University College Dublin, Università degli Studi dei Siena, and the University of New Mexico. Pedro Comesaña has authored more than 50 articles in international journals and conferences and holds several international patents. He was honored with the Best Paper Award at IEEE WIFS 2014 (Atlanta, USA) and the Best Paper Award at IWDW 2011 (Atlantic City, USA). Additionally, he participated in European projects such as ECRYPT, REWIND, and NIFTy. Pedro is a Senior Member of the IEEE, Associate Editor of IET Information Forensics (since 2012), a member of the IEEE SPS Information Forensics and Security Technical Committee (IEEE SPS IFS-TC), and the IEEE SPS Student Services Committee. Moreover, he serves as the Technical co-Chair of ACM IH&MMSec 2015 and Area Chair of IEEE ICIP 2015.
