Ramón C. Hermida is full Professor and Director of the Laboratory of Bioengineering and Chronobiology (LBC), which is integrated into atlanTTic, an internationally renowned center for biomedical signal processing and the development of clinical studies in chronotherapy. After obtaining his degree in Telecommunication Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, he was a research fellow sponsored by the Spanish Association Against Cancer at the School of Medicine of the University of Minnesota (USA), where he obtained a Master’s degree in Pathology, Chronobiology, and Applied Statistics, and later his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering. Professor Hermida has directed over 70 research projects in various areas, including ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (development of diagnostic tests, chronotherapy for hypertension); obstetrics (prevention of gestational hypertension and preeclampsia); pediatrics (growth; hyperlipidemia); neonatology (vascular risk, sudden death); chronoepidemiology (parasitic, transmissible, and infectious diseases); oncology (ovarian and bladder cancer, cervical-uterine cancer, breast cancer). Professor Hermida is the author of 82 book chapters and 281 articles in scientific journals; he has given 256 invited lectures; and has received 92 research awards. Currently, he is the President of the International Society for Chronobiology (ISC) and the President of the Spanish Society of Chronobiology, Chronotherapy, and Vascular Risk (SECAC).
