PIXEurope will establish a sustainable open-access pilot line, addressing the main technological and production challenges associated with Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs).
The concept of PIXEurope is to create a unified and unique research, training, and open-access platform that offers well-coordinated services to develop and de-risk advanced PIC technologies and manufacturing processes, providing Europe with unprecedented control, sovereignty, and competitive advantage in this critical technology.
PIXEurope will collaborate with European manufacturers to transfer innovative technologies and processes for scaling up, creating a unique research–industry ecosystem that increases PIC production capacity. It will also support research organizations in bridging the gap between laboratory and manufacturing, accelerating research commercialization.
PIXEurope will also establish advanced training courses on PIC manufacturing, ensuring that companies can access a highly skilled workforce to grow their businesses. The training will include 28 online courses and 18 in-person specialized courses, targeting 1,000 participants per year, and will be connected with the European Competence Centers and the Design Platform.
PIXEurope will create a unique ecosystem to fully harness the global potential of integrated photonic technologies.
