José Luis Alba Castro received his PhD in Telecommunications Engineering in 1997 from the University of Vigo, Spain. He is Full Professor at the University of Vigo since 2012. His research interests are focused in pattern recognition in machine vision and multi-modal human-computer interaction, with special emphasis in biometric identification, face detection, analysis and recognition, computer assisted driving, medical imaging and automatic inspection in industry. He is lately focused on the challenging problem of Sign Language Recognition and Translation. He has been the leader of more than 35 research projects and contracts on computer vision and machine learning topics. He has served in many technical programme committees and authored more than 100 international research papers. Dr. Alba is also the co-founder of the spin-off relEYEble.
