Telecommunications Engineer (1985) and Doctor in Telecommunications Engineering (1990) from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. He joined the University of Santiago de Compostela as a professor in 1989 and currently holds the position of Full Professor in the field of Signal Theory and Communications at the University of Vigo. His areas of research include optoelectronic devices, optical communications, nonlinear optics, and quantum optics.
