Felipe Gil-Castiñeira obtained his Telecommunication Engineer (specializing in telematics) degree and PhD in Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Vigo in 2002 and 2007, respectively. Currently, he is Full Professor in the Department of Telematic Engineering at the same university. Between 2009 and 2010, he undertook a stay at the Nokia Research Center in Palo Alto, and from 2014 to 2016, he served as the technical director of the “Intelligent Networked Systems” area at Gradiant, the Technological Center of Telecommunications of Galicia. His research interests include wireless communication systems (5G communications), multimedia communications, embedded systems, ubiquitous computing, and the Internet of Things. He has published over 60 articles in these fields in international journals and conference proceedings. He has led numerous national and international projects in these areas.
