The objective of the EIS-QKD project is to improve the practical security of quantum key distribution (QKD) systems by developing a comprehensive security proof that takes into account all device imperfections and by creating source characterization methods to measure the parameters needed to implement this proof. In this way, the aim is to strengthen the potential of QKD as a technology capable of ensuring secure communications in the face of threats from quantum computers.
