Telecommunications Engineer (1995) and Ph.D. in Telecommunications Engineering (2001) from the Universidade de Vigo, Spain. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Telematics Teaching and a researcher at atlanTTic. He has directed and participated in more than 50 R&D projects in the areas of Telematics Services and Artificial Intelligence in national and international calls. In 2010, he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Merit from the Ministerio del Interior, in support of the Spanish Law Enforcement Agencies in the fight against child delinquency on the Internet. He regularly participates as a project evaluator at the regional, national, and international levels, through various programs of the European Union and member countries. He has published more than 40 articles in international peer-reviewed journals, more than 20 book chapters, and more than 100 papers at international conferences. He is also a regular reviewer for several major international conferences and journals and an Area Editor for the journal Simulation Modeling Practice and Theory (SIMPAT, Elsevier) in his areas of interest: intelligent systems, evolutionary game theory, self-organization, and complex adaptive systems.
