Laura Docío Fernández earned her master’s and doctoral degrees in Telecommunications Engineering in 1995 and 2001, respectively, both from the University of Vigo. In 2002, she conducted a postdoctoral research stay at the International Computer Science Institute (ICSI) in Berkeley, USA. Currently, she is an Associate Professor in the Department of Signal Theory and Communications at the University of Vigo. She has participated in more than 15 research projects funded by both national and international public institutions, as well as projects with companies. She is the author of more than 40 papers published in international conferences and 13 articles published in JCR-indexed journals. Her research focuses on the areas of pattern recognition and machine learning, as well as voice, audio, and image processing for applications such as segmentation, diarization, and characterization of individuals, and metadata extraction in audiovisual content. She also works on identification methods to preserve individuals’ identity.
