Telecommunications Engineer (1991) and Ph.D. in Telecommunications Engineering (1996) from the University of Vigo. Between 1992 and 1996, he worked at the E.Ou.I.T. Telecommunications of UPM, where he taught classes on Room Acoustics, Noise Control, and Musical Acoustics. Since 1996, he has been an Associate Professor at the University of Vigo, where he teaches Architectural Acoustics, Advanced Acoustics (Degree in Telecommunications Engineering), and Professional Acoustic Software (Master in Industrial Mathematics). Between 2006 and 2011, he collaborated with the Eduardo Torroja Institute of Construction Sciences in the development of the official software tool for calculating sound insulation according to the DB HR. From 2007 to 2012, he worked as an auditor for the national accreditation entity, ENAC, conducting audits according to the UNE EN 17025 standard in acoustic laboratories throughout the country. Currently, his research interests focus on the application of pattern recognition in the detection and classification of acoustic events, holding a national patent. He actively collaborates with various companies, carrying out more than 20 contracts with private companies and public institutions. He is the author of over 60 publications in international conferences and journals and holds two patents and has supervised three doctoral theses. As a reviewer, among other international journals, he works for JASA, Applied Acoustics, and the Journal of Building Acoustics.
