Zbinden, Hugo

Hugo received his M.Sc. in climate physics and his PhD in laser physics from the University of Bern in 1987 and 1991 respectively. After a short post-doc on an industrial project in Berne, he joined University of Geneva and has since then been working on a large variety of projects leading from the fundamental aspects to the applications of the field of Quantum Communication and Information. In particular, he made several contributions to the development of Quantum Key Distribution. From 2012 to 2023, he has been leading the Quantum Technology group as an associate professor. He was nominated honorary professor at the University of Geneva starting from August 2023. He is co-author of about 200 scientific publications and co-founder of ID Quantique, one of the first quantum technology companies.
